Prisoner of genius

I grew up seeing Michael Jackson grow up. Whether he was a bubbly 5-year-old on the "Ed Sullivan" show or an eccentric 45-year-old walking into court wearing pajamas, he was a performer, and there was something captivating about him.

His music was not to my taste, yet some of his lyrics were profoundly moving. His flamboyant wardrobe was not my style, but his ability to shock and surprise was fascinating. His lifestyle was disturbing, yet I felt sorry for him because he was loved around the world, but apparently not by the people he really needed love from.

He was bizarre and brilliant—a tortured prisoner of his own creative genius. He wasn't taught it. He may not have wanted it. But he was born with it. Now that he is gone, it will be his legacy. Rest in peace, Michael.

Great words for who was once a very captivating entertainer.

I agree. I think Michael and many child stars grow up in a way we can't even imagine. The affects are not always so great. Whatever his demons were, they can't erase the talent this man had. I did enjoy a lot of his music starting with the first Jackson 5 8 track tape we bought! Watching him sing and dance always left me in awe.

It's a shame he is gone so young. I'm sure he had a lot more music for us.
