It's officially here—the holiday season, that is. Today I experienced the trifecta of holiday harbingers. First sign: my spouse and I went to dinner and passed a yard decked out in blinking reindeer, Santa and his sleigh, and lots of ribbons and plastic holly around the mailbox.
Second sign came during the evening dog-walk, when I saw a glimmer through the trees. Sure enough, my neighbors to the east had become the first on the block to illuminate the sky with their home's icicle lights.
Third sign: I saw my first "doors open at 5 a.m." ad for post-Thanksgiving shopping. I'll bet tomorrow I hear "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" on the radio. Did you ever think that Grandma was sorta lucky?
